Amendments to the Law "On Protection of Competition" have been published

16 October 2024, Wednesday

The President of the Russian Federation signed the Federal Law "On Amendments to the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition". The Federal Law was adopted by the State Duma on October 1, 2024 and approved by the Federation Council on October 9, 2024.

Self-employed citizens are included in the category of "business entity".

Previously, the concept of "business entity" included organizations, sole proprietors and other individuals engaged in professional activities that generate income.

At the same time, among the latter, persons applying the special tax regime "Tax on professional income" were not singled out separately. Therefore, they did not have access to separate state and municipal preferences. The amendments are aimed at solving this problem.

The changes introduced other innovations, including:

- the procedure for determining the monopolistically high price of goods has been adjusted;

- the FAS has introduced the right to send a warning if the agency has reliable information about planned behavior in the commodity market, which may lead to a violation of antimonopoly legislation.

The amendments will enter into force on March 1, 2025.
