Alpine skiing, Kysh Babai's patrimony and glamping: top places for New Year's holidays in Tatarstan
There is less than a month left before the New Year holidays. At this time, a large flow of tourists from other regions is expected in Tatarstan. Domestic tourism is also becoming more active, Tatarstan residents are already choosing locations in different regions of the republic that they want to visit on holidays. The organizers are preparing New Year's venues, concerts and show programs for them.
For example, in Kazan, most activities are planned in the heart of the city – the Kazan Kremlin. These include Christmas trees, performances, and exhibitions. A large program is planned near the Kazan Family Center, where the main green beauty of the republic will be installed. Ice shows will traditionally be held at the Sports Palace, a new program is being prepared at the Kazan Circus, and performances for children will be held at the Ekiyat Puppet Theater.
Top locations for New Year holidays in Tatarstan
The New Year's residence of Kysh Babai and Kar Kyzy in the Forest of Wonders, a new ski complex in the Mamadyshsky district and three more – Sviyazhsky Hills, Fedotovo ski complex, Yan sports and recreation complex will be waiting for Tatarstan residents and guests of the republic during the New Year holidays. Yelabuga, Bolgar, Sviyazhsk, Chistopol, Tetyushi and other locations are also in demand among travelers.
In addition, thanks to participation in the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality industry", Tatarstan entrepreneurs received subsidies for the creation of glamping sites. From 2023 to 2024, the Government supported 16 such projects, and 129 additional rooms were created. New accommodation facilities have appeared in the Zelenodolsk district and the Zakamsky zone.

The Tourist Card application works for tourists in Tatarstan. It is available for download on both iOS and Android. It contains information about all the tourist attractions of the republic.
It has become easier for tourists to come to Tatarstan from the North and from the central part of the country
Tatarstan annually works to enter new tourist markets. The main focus is on the central part of the Russian Federation. The republic is especially interested in tourists from Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg.
An increase in the number of tourists coming to the city along the M12 highway is also expected for the New Year holidays. Already last year, a large number of travelers arrived in Tatarstan along the new road. Although it opened on the eve of the New Year, guests from other regions managed to come to Kazan to celebrate the holidays here.
For example, in the capital of Tatarstan, they expect to increase the flow from Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kostroma, Voronezh, Tula regions, Vologda and other Russian regions.
The tourist tax is an important tool for improving infrastructure
Sergey Ivanov also recalled that starting from January 1, 2025, Tatarstan municipalities will have the right to independently set a tourist tax. The decision to introduce it has already been made in Kazan, Zelenodolsk, Yelabuga, Bolgar, Aznakaevo and several rural settlements of the republic. It will be included in the cost of hotel accommodation and will amount to about 1% of it.
The introduction of a tourist tax is currently being considered in several more municipalities of Tatarstan. Privileged categories of citizens will be exempt from it. These are, for example, Heroes of labor, veterans and participants of the SVO, persons under 18 years of age and others.
